Drawing room at Silverdale

HCL 00440

Today’s image is the drawing room of Silverdale House in 1895, a great example of Victorian décor, patterns everywhere! A sign of the times is also the different musical instruments, 1890s home entertainment. This homestead was on a 300-acre estate which then gave its name to the suburb we know as Silverdale. The house remains but is now in a suburban street rather than a grand estate.
