Revival of the Messiah

HCLE 00214tile

Handel’s Messiah is a well-loved choral production, so it is not surprising that it was chosen for the first performance of the Hamilton Choral Society in December 1922. However, this is the inaugural performance of the re-formed Society, as a previous Society had first formed in 1878. Unfortunately, interest had declined until this revival was proposed in 1922. Their first concert was performed at the New Strand Theatre, Victoria St.
