We're excited to introduce our new opening hours, based on feedback from library users. This change in hours will allow us to provide a better and more convenient service to our community!

Fewer late nights and longer opening hours on weekends will help Hamilton City Libraries improve the delivery of community services and provide increased access for families with young children, working families, and people unable to visit the library during the current business hours.

The hours listed below will come into effect from Sunday 26 September. Hours in bold indicate times which have changed from the current opening hours.

We surveyed the public to find out when they would prefer to use our libraries, and looked at existing visitation patterns. Based on this data, we decided that having fewer late nights and longer opening hours on weekends would better serve our communities.

No - our total hours open across the week remain the same, we have just changed the days and times to be more convenient for library users. This means we will still retain the same number of staff.

We are working with the facilitators of affected library events to find a new time for them to run. Updates to these events will be posted here as new times are confirmed, and on the event listing under What's On.
