A database won't work?

if you are using the subscription Online Resources from home, your card number must be given in full with no spaces and with capitals letters and numbers exactly as on the card.Program settings may be causing the lack of access. Because you are sending a card number across the internet, your settings for cookies, firewalls, anti-virus, popup stopper products and javascript, may be preventing access. See the notes on firewalls below.

All your firewall and anti-virus products will have a help link and you can search in this to find out how to enable/disable various features. If you wish to disable a personal firewall or anti-virus product, it is generally done by right-clicking on its icon which shows in the bottom of your screen. If you cannot get into a site and you get a message "Too many concurrent users", please try later. We have licences that limit the number of users at any one time to some of the databases.

Contact us  if this information does not solve the problem.

Firewall or anti-virus blocking your access?

If you are able to enter a card number and your PIN but then get a "page cannot be displayed" message, a firewall may be blocking access to the Library site. If you are using the site from a business, check that a company firewall is not blocking the Library site.

If you are at home, you may have installed a product such as ZoneAlarm or Norton Security. If you wish to disable a personal firewall or anti-virus product, it is generally done by right-clicking on its icon which shows in the bottom of your screen. Or you may be able to alter the settings to allow access for the Library site. Since these are security settings, you may or may not wish to disable or alter them. If you wish, seek further advice from the website of the product vendor
