How do I join?
Do you live in Hamilton City or the Waikato District? If you do then it is free to join. Come along to one of our libraries and bring some personal identification with you. We accept: Drivers Licence, Passport, Birth, Marriage or Civil Union certificate, Credit Card with your name embossed on it, Community Services Card, Student ID.
If you bring 2 forms of identification - one showing your current address - then you can borrow up to 20 items on that day.Identification showing your address can be a power or telephone account, rates notice. This must be dated no earlier than two months ago. If you bring one form of identification and no proof of address then you can only take one item out that day. If you live outside Hamilton City or the Waikato District there is a subscription fee for membership to Hamilton City Libraries: $50 individual membership (limit 4 items) for 12 months, or $130 for groups for 12 months.
What can I do with my card?
Here's what your library card allows you to do: Use all our libraries! - Central, Chartwell, Dinsdale, Glenview, Hillcrest, St Andrews - you can borrow from them all without having to do paperwork at each one! Borrow up to any 20 items at any one time - books, CDs, DVDs, you name it. Borrow most items for 28 days. CDs, DVDs and Best Sellers are issued for 7 days. |
