It's back! Join the battle for the Tri-Libraries Environmental Cup!
Just like Harry Potter, in Hamilton City Libraries' winter holiday programme kids aged 5-12 join one of three houses and earn points for themselves and their house by completing each step in the science project plan. These steps can be done online or by handing them into your local library. There will also be a bonus activity of tree planting.
The visit to the Waste Water Treatment Plant has been cancelled. If you wanted to come to that why not come to our tree planting instead! It should be a lot of fun. Don't forget to wear old clothes.
Your house matches the library you visit most often:
Manu Taki = Dinsdale and Glenview libraries
Ahu Komau = Chartwell and Garden Place libraries
Tuna Ngahuru = St Andrews and Hillcrest libraries
The first five steps in your science project are worth 25 points each. The final step will be marked on how much effort you put in. You could earn up to 50 points. The house with the most points at the end of programme claims the Tri-Libraries Environmental Cup. There will also be an extra special bonus activities. Thursday, July 8th kids can visit lake Waiwhakareke and help plant trees to protect the area. Map of area.
This holiday programme will run during the July school holidays from July 1 to July 15, 2010. To register, you or your parent or caregiver need to be a library member. Fill out the online form below that matches your home library or visit your local library to sign up. If you have any questions you can email us or phone us on 838 6842.
