Eight Days to Live by Iris Johansen

In Eight Days to Live Jane MacGuire, an artist, is pursued by a cult who informs her she is a blasphemer for painting a portrait she calls Guilt. They tell her she has just eight days to live. The cult believes Jane somehow found their temple and made the painting based on what is within it. Jane is targeted for "total extermination" which means not only is she a target, but so is anyone close to her.

Island Beneath The Sea by Isabel Allende

Isabel Allende is an immensely popular author and this book is impossible to put down. A sweeping saga spanning four decades, it is set partly in late-18th-century Haiti. The protagonist, a mulatto slave named Zarité, is maid to a sugar planter’s wife who gradually goes mad. Island beneath the sea is the moving story of the intertwined lives of Tété and Valmorain, and of one woman’s determination to find love amid loss, to offer humanity though her own has been battered, and to forge her own identity in the cruellest of circumstances

Real Vampires Hate Their Thighs by Gerry Bartlett

Glory St. Clair loves soaking up Hollywood's vampire nightlife with her sexy Scottish lover, Jeremiah. Especially when she meets a vampire/ diet guru who promises to give her the body she's wanted for centuries. One problem: his clan and Jeremiah's are ancient enemies. But Glory's not about to let a stupid family feud come between her and slender bliss. This is number 5 in a series, but I read it as a stand alone with no problem. Readers of Janet Evanovich should like these books, a sassy character with more hot hunks around than any woman can handle…Sound familiar? A major difference though, is Glory is a 400 year-old vampire!
